I Guard my Whole Heart Reflection

I guard my whole heart. Above all else, I watch over my heart and diligently guard it because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life. I worry about nothing. I pray about everything. I thank God in all things. His peace guards my heart.

Out of the abundance of my heart my mouth speaks. I fill my heart with the good things of God. I think about what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. I think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. I put into practice all I learned and received from people of wisdom —everything I heard from them and saw them doing. So the God of peace is with me.

The unrepentant heart is deceitful above things and desperately sick, but the Lord, searches my heart and examine secret motives, and gives me — like all people — due rewards, according to what my actions deserve. He’s a good Father who disciplines me for my good.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! I delight myself in You and You give me the desires of my heart.

Reflection Question

Does peace rule my heart?

Can I pray?

Lord I thank you that gratitude is a choice and being grateful with our whole heart is something you ask us to show you. Thank you that it’s peace that rules our heart and we know our heart is aligned with your heart when we have your peace that passes understanding. Thank you that without faith it’s impossible to please you. Because we can come to know knowing you exist and that you are a rewarder or those who seek you. We seek you today and every day. Amen.

I figured it was the group I grew up in, so we’re the only ones I should probably poke fun at. Apparently some people didn’t’ know that about me. One day I came back into the class with a fresh cup of coffee before the break was over. There was a group in the back corner and I went to see what was going on. One of the guys turned to me and said, “Can you believe these guys still think tongues is still a gift for today?” “Hey me too!” I laughed, “I pray them every day!” Then I challenged, “How do you strengthen yourself
